A deal will bring some new ownership to Fallsview Casino and Casino Niagara. Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment currently runs seven casinos in the US and one in South Korea and sometime next summer, they’ll have two in Canada. MGE is owned by the Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut and is based in Uncasville, Connecticut with around 10,000 people employed by the company across their eight locations. The approximately 4,200 jobs that are here in the Falls will only be protected for 12 months after Mohegan takes control. According to OLG, this is consistent with all other gaming bundles in Ontario. Mohegan will be the owners and operators of the casinos based on a 21-year agreement. MGE will also be the owners of the future 5,000-seat Niagara Falls Entertainment Centre. A local developer and current landlord of Casino Niagara, Canadian Niagara Hotels Inc. will partner with Mohegan to help become an even more important part of the Niagara community. Dino DiCienzo is the president of Canadian Niagara Hotels Inc. and says that OLG’s decision to select Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment will take Niagara’s casinos to the next level.
