Fort Erie now has a burning ban in place. It’s the latest municipality in Niagara to ban all outdoor burning over hot and dry conditions. The ban covers all open air burning including cooking fires, fireworks and all outdoor burning. You can still use barbecues and other gas appliances, but the town warns you to be extra careful.
Burning bans cover much of Niagara including Niagara Falls, Wainfleet, Niagara-on-the-Lake and Pelham. You could be fined between $2,000 and $50,000 if you’re caught violating the ban.
